The project is carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, Yedidut Toronto, and SFI Group. It is based on understanding the key barriers facing single mothers in the labor market, including employment gaps, limited work hours due to family obligations, difficulty commuting long distances to higher-paying jobs, and employer hesitancy about hiring them. The project's goal is to provide single mothers with the necessary support and assistance, enabling them to cope with their complex reality while building a foundation for a more stable and secure future for themselves and their children.
Employment improvement is achieved through 18 months of personal guidance from an employment counselor, along with a holistic package of services including tailored training and skill-building, rights advocacy, and a shift in mindset regarding their ability to balance home life and rewarding work. All of this is accompanied by ongoing work with employers to remove barriers, set shared goals, and create an enabling work environment.
Over 600 women will participate in this project, with the expectation that more than half will be placed in and maintain employment suited to their skills, exit the cycle of poverty, and create social mobility for themselves and their children.
For every shekel invested in the program, the expected economic benefit is 4 shekels — 47% as direct profit to participating families, 38% as growth for the economy, and 15% as savings for the state through reduced welfare payments and increased tax revenue.
The estimated net annual economic impact is approximately NIS 17 million.
