Integration of New Immigrants and Ethiopian Israelis into the Tech Industry

The Project

The DI Career Impact Bond is a collaborative initiative between SFI and Developers Institute, aimed at training specific populations for careers in the tech industry. The initiative focuses on two target groups: new immigrants who arrived in Israel following the war in Ukraine and members of the Ethiopian community in Israel. Impact investors fund the training costs for participants and receive returns when participants are placed in relevant jobs and pay back the cost of their training.

"I moved to Israel from Russia, where I had a background in telecommunications and mobile devices.

The job market situation was challenging, especially for new immigrants without work experience in Israel, due to the tragedy of October 2023. However, DI provided me with immense support. In January, an HR representative recommended me for an interview at a Tel Aviv startup. It was a great opportunity, but the assignment task was very difficult. I followed the recommendations from my course on how to solve it, focusing not only on the technical aspects but also on responding quickly, within one week, even though the company did not provide a deadline.

The result was positive, and I passed the technical interview. Now, I am a Junior Full Stack Developer, which allows my family to live in Israel"
